August 2020
Speed and momentum as the centre-point focus, Avanish Singh Visen, CEO, Encraft India believes in empowering people to drive success goals.
Years of working in the industry, your contribution reflects versatility and volubility. What has influenced your decision making process at various stages?
Time, not losing valuable momentum, careful Analysis, accepting criticism, learning, perception, past experiences, research are some of the key factors.
At times, I need to act very swiftly, most CEOs operate with limited data on internal business progress much of the time because waiting for all the information before making a decision risks losing valuable momentum.
I focus on changing bad decisions quickly. Admitting failure is difficult but refusing to change bad decisions is dangerous. So as to maintain credibility and efficacy, I reverse bad decisions before it’s too late.
Significant Career Achievement
Every day and every minute is like a project to me, because my whole team looks up to me for better decision making and to lead them towards path of success. Every day, my team and myself strive hard to provide our customers and partners with NOTHING but the best. It’s been more than a decade with Encraft and there are so many achievements WE as a team TOGETHER have achieved and there is more coming and we are fully geared up for the upcoming challenges.
How do you integrate corporate philanthropy or corporate social responsibility as a part of your business strategies?
I believe that companies these days have the power, influence and resources to take on many of our global and local social issues.
Encrafts’ Corporate social responsibility ensures that we put our expertise and money into helping local communities while illustrating that business is not just about making profits. If anything, business has become about giving back and working in a collaborative way that offers solutions to help people and, indirectly, the world. Our investors and team share the same philosophy.
Philanthropy and charity go hand-in-hand and are not necessarily limited to the communities where we operate. Most often, we simply select causes and then contribute on a financial level.
What has been your driving force or philosophy in life?
God, Nature and Family are key driving forces & also there are 4 main pillars of my life“Trust , Loyalty, Transparency & Heart to Heart relationship ”
The desire to accomplish every day and win every day and be positive and energetic and do the best to the organization and for the people around me motivates me. This makes me feel like every moment is precious and I need to be working toward my goal every single day. It also puts pressure on me to make sure I value my time, and that I remain laser-focused on my goals.
We are the only conscious life forms that we know of in this universe. We have been gifted self-awareness by evolution to explore this existence, so we should be doing everything in our power to understand this beautiful universe we live in.
How do you define success and how do you measure up to your own definition?
I think success is the inner sense of satisfaction. If we are satisfied with our work and what we are having, I think we will be the most successful person in the world. Success is a journey, not a destination.
Success is not permanent and failure is not final so don’t stop working after success and never stops trying after failure.
“I like to maintain a consistent level of productivity and take both my successes and failures in stride. I try to learn from both and apply that knowledge to future situations.
We are constantly making things better, faster, smarter or less expensive. In other words, we strive to do more with less. Tell me about a recent project or solution to a problem that you have made better, faster, smarter or less expensive?
Every day we are executing in a better, faster, smarter and cost effective manner
Creating a smarter business requires quality business intelligence, observation of performance and clear direction, if this is done well, we can easily identify important areas for improvements, the key here is maximizing contribution to knowledge and learning. Teamwork is everything, well-organized consultation and feedback processes so that the latest trends in marketing research, consumer satisfaction and business planning are in the engine room of the business brain.
We’ve been able to maintain quality, service and cost effectiveness since inception despite the growing consumer and market needs because we’ve gotten better at what we do. My team, at every level and myself has ears to the ground looking for problems to solve. We are constantly improving our operational efficiencies to give the best to our customers and partners.
In your opinion what is the most significant aspect of leadership?
Creating a business requires special brand leadership that constantly reminds people of the value of knowledge, while making it easier for them to do their job and make a worthwhile contribution
Everybody defines leadership differently but I like the way John C Maxwell defines leadership, “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way.” A good leader has a futuristic vision and knows how to turn his ideas into real-world success stories.
Honesty and Integrity – The supreme quality of leadership is unquestionably integrity. Without it, no real success is possible; Honesty and integrity are two important ingredients and leaders succeed when they stick to their values and core beliefs and without ethics, this will not be possible.
Speed & Agility – Time is everything, ability to take decision in the best interest of the organization quickly makes all the difference and adaptability to the change and being nimble makes all the difference.
Heart-to-Heart Relationships – Life is all about relationships and making memories, I strongly believe in making long lasting relationships with my people and customers.
Inspiring the TEAM – Probably the most difficult job for a leader is to persuade others to follow. It can only be possible if leader inspire the followers by setting a good example. As John Quincy Adams puts it, “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” If a leader is successful in inspiring his team, he can easily overcome any current and future challenge easily.
Commitment and Passion – The more committed, passionate and energetic the leader is, the more positive and energetic the team remains
Decision-Making Capabilities – Apart from having a futuristic vision, a leader should have the ability to take the right decision at the right time. Decisions taken by leaders have a profound impact on masses. A leader should think long and hard before taking a decision but once the decision is taken, he/she has to stand by it and take full accountability.
Your perception of an empowered society. How far your industry has / can contribute for the same?
Societal change influences organizations’ and individuals; organizational change in turn influences individuals and society. At the societal level empowerment is a macro process, at the organizational level it is a micro process, and at the individual level it is a personal process. Empowered individuals in empowered organizations will be equipped to pursue, protect, and promote their interests effectively. An empowered society will be able to sustain this continually to ensure the greater good for its entire people.
Our industry is contributing as much as it can towards social empowerment. An empowering society is one that works to distribute resources equitably as well as effectively. Policies and practices that support such equity are critical, as are the voices of individuals, organizations, and communities. Society-wide empowerment is concerned with how well key components of society work, so that everyone has adequate resources.
One thing you wish to change and retain about your industry?
Leader should be able to show off the elevator pitch, wear a whole bunch of different hats, and easily step in and fill any role in the burgeoning organization.
Maybe i should do more of self-reflection and spend more time talking to my inner self (spend more time meditating).
One thing I would like to retain in this industry is the consumer behavior with competitive intelligence; without this in the industry, we will not be where we are.
2. One thing you have to let go off as an entrepreneur/leader?
“Needing to be right , every time “ is the one thing which I have to let go off as an leader.
3. Whom do you owe your success to?
I am ambitious and work smart towards what I consider success.
I believe that most success starts with where you come from, meaning predominantly “ family”, the way you were bought up. More importantly, I think the principles during bought up will help with social circumstances and environment-awareness. These are a big factor that helps in learning and adapting and sustaining.
But without some key positive morals, values, beliefs, and behaviors imposed on by parents and family, it will not be possible to achieve success in this world.
4. Best thing about your job?
I love my job, being surrounded by my all stakeholders, being surrounded by positive thoughts and energy or optimism and the capability of juggling several critical duties while remaining trusted and respected
Experimentation is imperative in my business. It’s how innovations are born and it’s how to stay competitive in the market.
5. A message from you to all the future entrepreneurs/leaders?
A good entrepreneur must be stubborn and flexible. “We are stubborn on vision. We are flexible on details”.
Sticking to the vision is the first part, and being flexible about the tactics is the second part. “If you’re not stubborn, you’ll give up on experiments too soon. And if you’re not flexible, you’ll pound your head against the wall and you won’t see a different solution to a problem you’re trying to solve.”
Most importantly Speed & Agility and heart-heart relationships and maintaining can-do attitude irrespective of challenges is the key to success. We must make the practice to take the calculative risk.
